Shootout Play
Shootouts help alleviate the challenges associated with game play involving players of varying skill levels. A shootout format enables players of similar skill levels to play with each other, while also allowing players to progress to higher courts as their skills improve. This proven solution requires minimal effort and cooperation.
Using Pickleball Den, players have the ability to enter their own scores into our shootout module and from there Pickleball Den will take care of the rest! Our shootout module automatically tracks players wins and losses, which keeps track of players’ skill levels. This allows players, even the people running the game play, to participate and have fun while Pickleball Den runs the shootout.
Learn how shootout rankings and ratings are calculated!
To start using our shootout module, the organizer of the shootout will need to take a few minutes to create an account with Pickleball Den. From there a sign-up sheet for shootouts is available!
Luck of the Draw
Luck of the Draw places players on the courts randomly. This is a great event for clubs as a social event where players get a chance to meet and play with each other. After each game, the manager can “send the players” back out to the courts and Den will randomize the players again. No scores are entered. The club may decide to have games played to 11 win by 2 or limit games to a time period (e.g. 15 minutes). It also supports player byes, for example, your club has 4 courts and 17 players show-up (one extra player), each round a new player will be selected to sit out. Den notifies players via their mobile device which court to go to and who they are playing with and against.
Players sign-up for a Luck of the Draw using Den Sign-Up Sheet. Then on game day, players show up at the court, check-in, and the manager starts the event.
Mix-it-up Play
ABCD Play
Both Mix-It-Up and ABCD are round-robin style games that can handle any number of players. ABCD play is a a competitive event, while Mix-It-Up play is non-competitive event.
Players sign-up for a Mix-It-Up and ABCD using Den Sign-Up Sheet. Then on game day, players show up at the court, check-in, and the manager starts the event.
In Mix-It-Up play, players are randomly placed in a pool of four or five players and assigned a court to play on. In ABCD, players are placed in a pool of four or five players based on their club defined skill level. As game play progresses, players enter their scores into Pickleball Den. Entering scores creates a history of game play, but clubs can also use this information to keep track of the activity at their club. Importantly, players can review their performance history to see how they have improved their game!
This module is great for club managers as well as there is no paper involved. Mix-It-Up and ABCD are so easy to use that even the club manager can play in them!
Mix-It-Up and ABCD are part of our Club module so players will need to have a Pickleball Den subscription. To learn how to organize a Mix-It-Up or ABCD event, we recommend you watch Pickleball Den’s Shoot Out videos.
By the Ratings
By the Ratings is a competitive play type that places players out on the courts based on their Den Global Rating. After players enter their scores, Pickleball Den software updates the player's rating automatically for the next event! When players travel to other clubs, their Den Global Rating follows them.
